Argument: Waste products can be recycled to produce cellulosic ethanol

Issue Report: Cellulosic ethanol

Novozymes CEO Steen Riisgaard said, “Biofuel producers now have a critical component to turn agricultural waste into a competitive alternative to gasoline.”[1]

Consider this claim made by supporters of cellulosic ethanol: “From our cellulose waste products on the farm such as straw, corn-stalks, corn cobs and all similar sorts of material we throw away, we can get, by present known methods, enough alcohol to run our automotive equipment in the United States.”[2]
