“Space exploration – a waste of money?”. Toytown Germany Forum. Comment by KZA – It is a waste of taxpayers money thats for sure. If it really was worth while, private enterprise would be investing in space. They do to a certain extent which is good, but im sure most of the money comes from taxpayers originally.
Im not saying its not worthwhile at all. But its possibly only partially worthwhile at the moment. In the future I think it will make a lot of sense to invest in space research and development, probably when the prices of certain resources on earth increase to the point where extracting them from offworld becomes an attractive proposition.
But I think governments should stay out of it until industry has at least spent its fair share of money on solving some of the expensive initial problems on their own.
