Issue Report: Instant replay in baseball

Jamie Samuelsen. “Galarraga call proves that time has come for replay in baseball.” Freep.com. June 4, 2010: “Wednesday should have been all about one human — Armando Galarraga (a pitcher who’s perfect game was robbed on a bad call). Instead it became about another human — Joyce (the umpire that made the call). And there is not ONE SINGLE HUMAN on the planet who wants it to be about Joyce. Not Joyce. Not Galarraga. Not Jim Leyland. And most certainly not Bud Selig. So someone tell me how the human element helps baseball. Tell me how the game can’t go on without the human element making glaring errors in calls that alter history.”
