Rod Dreher. “Should we elect judges?” Belief Net. June 9, 2009: “This year’s primary election has, sadly, taken us to a new low. For the first time in statewide judicial elections, candidates heavily financed by the developers, and beholden to their agenda, have run against justices and appellate judges, spent lavishly and have tried to politicize the courts so that they can be manipulated like every other political entity. That has forced the incumbents to seek party, law enforcement or other kinds of endorsements, spend money they do not have and to counter ads that have, in some cases, been scurrilous or even outright untruths.”
