Justice John Paul Stevens said in January of 2010 in a dissenting opinion following the Supreme Court’s 5-4 vote to allow unlimited corporate spending in elections: “cripple the ability of ordinary citizens, Congress and the states to adopt even limited measures to protect against corporate domination of the electoral process.”[1]
