House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Democrat of Maryland: “I’m for a public option, but I’m also for passing a bill. I think we need health care reform. We believe the public option is a necessary, useful and very important aspect of this. But, you know, we’ll have to see, because there are many other important aspects of the bill, as well.” His position, in other words, is that he will support the public option only if it does not obstruct the passage of larger healthcare reform.[1]
