October 16, 2007 – “How can we expect students to be prepared to function in the “new world” of global connectivity without its integration into our educational institutions? As an educator, it is fascinating to consider this issue from a purely economic perspective. Investing in human capital is a complex proposition that involves scaffolded support of the skills and knowledge you hope to develop. Clearly this is an issue of social justice – particularly for the students who would not otherwise be exposed to these new technologies outside the classroom. It is my hope that the debate will be framed by pragmatic realism grounded in social justice and equity of access.”
