October 15, 2007 – “I must agree with the thrust of Sir John Daniel’s argument insofar as it is the implementation of the technology, not the technology in and of itself, that trammels the improvement to educational quality. As such, I find myself forced to vote for the proposition, albeit with the caveat that my vote is based purely upon today’s largely failed realization of the potential for technology to improve education. To offer a blanket condemnation of the introduction of new technologies to education would do nothing to improve the state of schools and universities worldwide, yet to offer blanket support for the current implementation of such technologies could do much to harm.”
