October 19, 2007 – “Sir, Having recently taught Statistics at a large American university, it became evident that the advent of new technologies has de-emphasized the rigor of curriculae at the lower levels. Younger students are of the belief that theoretical concepts are not only difficult to grasp, but wholly unnecessary in light of devices that will provide an output that will be accepted on faith. The departure from rigorous ‘chalk and blackboard’ education has resulted in less emphasis on the theoretical pretexts that must be followed in any valid analysis.”
