“Editorial – Facebook not appropriate for students, teachers, but alternatives possible.” Star News Online. August 5th, 2011: “The policy could strip teachers of the ability to set up a social media site that works as an extension of the classroom. As technology becomes more important in professional and personal lives, our education system is often several steps behind.”

A Facebook spokesman said to Forbes on August 8th, 2011: “Everyday, there are more stories of innovative teachers using social networks as a valuable educational tool—from answering simple homework questions online to helping identify bullying. It is imperative that this law does not limit schools’ and teachers’ ability to use technology in this way to educate Missouri’s children and we are working with the education and legal communities to investigate.”[1]
